Dr. Niamh Hamill

Hello. This class is part 1 of a series of classes on the connections between Shakespeare's plays, and Ireland. In this first class, we will investigate why Shakespeare, and his audience would have had Ireland on their minds. We look at the historical relationship between Ireland and England at the time of Shakespeare, and the reign of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, and why Ireland would become very significant, and contentious, in the English mind.
